Exploration
Update
Adventurers in the realms
have reported seeing new denizens within the Omanii Desert.
Nomads seem to have decided to set up camp in the area, using
what little natural resources are available to make their home
there. Rumours report that there is some unease between the
two camps, and differences between their respective leaders.
The nomads are said to speak in a strange foreign tongue, but
are happy to teach it to anyone who is willing to learn. (23rd

New
Face
On the western edge of a sunlit forest lies the dwelling of
a retired forest wanderer. Albeit dusty this lovingly converted
cave holds many years of adventuring within. Those who have
the pleasure of the dwellers company tell of his fondness for
telling a yarn about the good old days, and the monsters that
entail. (23rd March 2004)
Deputy
Guild Wizards
Each guild on the MUD will soon be adopting a second deputy
Wizard in Charge. It is felt that these deputies will aid in
the care and development of the guild as well as ensuring that
someone is always available even when RL gets in the way. Deputy
Wizards....coming soon to a guild near you!

Wizard
Promotions
Congratulations are in order for the following Wizards who have
received
promotions!
Torallion
- promoted to Eldar Wizard
Dval
- promoted to Eldar Wizard
Avn - promoted
to Senior Wizard
Leefuss
- promoted to Senior Wizard
Promotions on ele are based on
large amounts of hard work. Much of what goes on is behind the
scenes and as players you do not often see the huge amounts
of work that goes in away from the mortal realms. These promotions
are in reward for years of dedication to Ele and huge quantities
of time and effort spent helping make the mud great.
Well done to them all! (25th

Major
Change to Alignment
An important change to the way alignment works on Elephant Mud
has taken place. This has far reaching consequences and it is
important that you understand that your alignment is now VERY
important.
What
Does This Mean For Me?
This means you must think very carefully about your alignment.
If you wish to be Evil and keep your options open in terms of
slaying your fellow players then you can do so, BUT be aware
that it comes at a cost.
If
you wish to be Good then there are some benefits open to you,
especially if you are friendly with the Clerics (or ARE a Cleric!).
However, one such as you would not strike out against your peers
without dire cause and so you must learn to control your more
violent desires.
For
everyone else it means walking a middle ground. You are not
especially blessed or cursed by the Gods. Clerical resurrections
may be a little worse, especially if you are on the 'wrong'
side of Neutral (at least as a Cleric would see it!), but Druids
are perhaps a more natural ally.
Overall
though you must think about how you wish to play your character.
Are you a noble soul helping drive Evil from the realms or do
you prey upon the weak, lurking in the shadows? You can be neither,
but not, now, both.

A
MAJOR change to guild kit storage has taken place!
Following a
detailed investigation by Sages employed by Lord Draken, a new
system for dealing with the storage of guild equipment has been
implemented.
When you go to your kit rooms
you will now find that there is what looks like a shop in place.
If you 'list' you will see all the kit available and how
much it will cost to take out. Yes - it will now cost money
to take kit
out of the guild stores. However, when you return this kit you
will get
either ALL your money back (if it has been a short loan to do
things like
comparing weapons, trying on armour etc), or VIRTUALLY ALL your
money back if it has been a longer loan. This means that while
it costs you money to take the kit out, it is more akin to a
deposit than a fee. Return the kit safely and you won't notice
the difference.
Now, this yields a number of
big advantages for you which may not be at first apparent:
1)
Kit Stealing Becomes Impossible
2) People Who Kit The Guild Get
Compensated
3) No More Fighting About When
To Sell The Kit Before Reboot
4) Greater Personal Responsibility
These are just a few of the benefits,
others you will discover yourself as
you use the system.
